Barcelona have made no progress on Ronald Araujo's contract extension in the last 12 months, and while that deal appears to be going nowhere, it has opened up a route outside the club. The summer has been earmarked as a deadline for a new deal, otherwise the Blaugrana will try to sell him.
Juventus have reportedly agreed to sign Ronald Araujo on personal terms, and their interest could change the situation. Relevo explains that there has been no formal contact between the two clubs, but that a contract extension with Barcelona has reached a dead end.
Information from Radio Barcelona seems to confirm this. They say Barcelona made an offer to Araujo in January 2024 but no response was received. After sustaining his injury with Uruguay in the summer, he received another offer, but Barcelona received no response. When asked, Araujo has explained that he is happy to stay at Barcelona, and the Blaugrana say they are keen to keep him but no progress has been made.
Despite that stance, Barcelona will consider offers for him amid interest from Juventus. They go on to say that if Araujo pushes for a departure, the Blaugrana will also take that into account and offers of around €60-70 million will be considered.
In Italy, it has been reported that Juventus are looking for a loan with an obligation to buy, which could be an obstacle, but one that can be negotiated around. A bigger problem for the Bianconeri could be interest from Arsenal, with Araujo seemingly preferring a move to the Premier League over Serie A.
