Armando Broja given oxygen and carried off on stretcher in final moments

EVERTON star Armando Broja was stretchered off the pitch late in the FA Cup tie with Peterborough after sustaining a worrying-looking injury.

The 23-year-old striker appeared to twist his leg awkwardly after being tackled by Posh defender Emmanuel Fernandez.

Broja had replaced goalscorer Beto in the 65th minute of the match, with the Toffees leading 1–0.

In the 86th minute he rounded Peterborough goalkeeper Nicholas Bilokapic, before the cover Fernandez tackled him.

The hapless attacker seemed to land awkwardly and immediately appeared to be in great discomfort.

He then received lengthy medical treatment on the field, hitting the turf in frustration.

Broja, who was given oxygen while he was treated, was eventually stretchered off the Goodison Park pitch.

The Albanian international made only his sixth appearance for Everton following his summer move from Chelsea.

Broja was ruled out until December due to an Achilles injury suffered in pre-season which had prevented a move to Ipswich.

He was previously sidelined between December 2022 and September 2023 after a devastating cruciate ligament injury.

In January 2024, Broja was loaned out to Fulham in an attempt to gain more regular first-team football.

But he was limited to just eight sub appearances for the Cottagers and did not start a single match during his loan spell there.

Broja played 38 times for parent club Chelsea, scoring three goals.

He's not ready for Everton yet.

After Broja was stretchered off, the Toffees added a second late on.

In the 97th minute, referee Thomas Bramall pointed to the spot after Jarrad Branthwaite was brought down.

Iliman Ndiaye calmly slotted home the resulting penalty to seal a 2-0 win for the hosts on the day boss Sean Dyche was sacked.
