Arne Slot has spoken for the first time since Mohamed Salah signed a new two -year contract in Liverpool.
Salah, 32, is one of the best players of Liverpool of all time, in which the Egyptian scored a remarkable 243 goals in 394 games for the club since he came to Roma in 2017 for a first fee of £ 36.5 million.
The attacker has won eight trophies in Anfield and remains an integral part on the side of Arne Slot while they close for the Premier League title.
Salah's previous contract would expire in the summer and speculation about his future was an important point of conversation during the campaign, in which the attacker regularly gave cryptic answers when he was questioned about his future.
On Friday, however, the club confirmed that he had put pen on paper on a new deal until 2027 worth £ 350,000 a week, which ended the dramatic Saga.
Liverpool has broken the club policy by offering him a new deal, because Fenway Sports Group is usually reluctant to hand out new contracts older than 30 to players.
And Reds Boss Slot expressed his joy about the news when he spoke at his press conference before the match prior to the Liverpool collision against West Ham.
“Of course happy,” he said. 'He has now shown for so many years in a row in this club how much value he has for the team and the club. Like all our fans and his teammates, we are very happy that he has expanded for two years and Hopefulyl he can show Agian on Sunday how important he has been the entire season.
In the meantime, one shortly after the news was announced, an ecstatic Salah revealed the reasoning behind his decision.
“Of course I am very excited,” he told the official Liverpool website. “We now have a great team. Before that we also had a great team. But I signed because I think we have the chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.
“It's great, I've had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it will be 10. I enjoy my life here and enjoy my football.
“My family also feels at home. We enjoy every moment in the city and every moment in the club.
'It is always a special moment when we play in Anfield. There is no place like that. The warmth that you feel on the inside, the number for the game.
“Everything about it, every moment you score a goal and they sing my song is something special.”
He continued: 'I would like to say it [the fans]I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win many big trophies together.
“Keep supporting us and we give it our best, and hopefully we will win more trophies in the future.”
