Liverpool stars Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz watched from the sidelines while Liverpool was defeated by AC Milan in Hong Kong after he had been omitted from Arne Slot's team on Saturday on Saturday
Arne Slot has revealed that Luis Diaz was omitted from Liverpool's collision against AC Milan because of constant talking about his future. Darwin Nunez, who is also linked to an exit, had a 'small' fitness problem that kept him out of the game.
The side of Slot fell on a 4-2 defeat against the Italian opposition while the Dutchman looked to speed up his team. Florian Wirtz debuted for supporters and showed flashes of his collision, but could not inspire Liverpool to victory.
Despite wholesale replacements, the Reds had a number of players who were not available. Waturo Endo missed due to illness, while Alexis Mac Allister still builds his fitness after injury and the game in Japan will miss against Yokahoma FM despite his return to training.
New signature Hugo Ekitike was also not available selection because they put the Frenchman more time to beds in the team earlier this week. Ekitike should appear on Wednesday for the first time.
Both Diaz and Darwin were present on Saturday at the Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong, but the absence of the team certainly led to quick questions about what it could mean for the future. After the game it appeared, it might mean more to Diaz.
“Yes, Luis Diaz was omitted today because of speculation about his future,” said Slot after the loss of Liverpool.
The Colombia International is linked to Barcelona and Bayern Munich this summer. The first has since undered Marcus Rashford from Manchester United, but the German giants are moving to sign Diaz from Liverpool.
The attacker is in conversation with Liverpool during his future and has two more years about his deal.
Bayern, however, is said to have made a second offer for the services of Diaz, with an opening offer of £ 58 million rejected by the Reds, who have made it clear that he is not for sale. Whether the player will be omitted on Saturday, signals a change in attitude, is still to be seen.
Joe Gomez was not present for the match against Milan after returning to Merseyside because of his Achilles injury. Slot said: “Of course he was with us for the first part of the week, but he had some Achilles problems.
“We thought it was better to judge it in England and for him to work on him to return to the team, probably in more ideal conditions for him.”
