Arne Slot receives Liverpool transfer boost as target confirms future plans

Liverpool have contacted Nurnberg about a summer move for Stefanos Tzimas.

The forward has scored eight goals in 15 games in Bundesliga 2 this season and has attracted interest from Chelsea, Brighton and Aston Villa. The Greece under-21 international has watched the Reds move as they look to lay the foundations for a deal, according to reports.

Tzimas is currently on loan from PAOK to Nürnberg, but Germany are in control of his future as they have the option to activate his €18m (£15.2m) purchase option. However, a quick exit appears to be on the cards for the striker, with the Bavarian side eyeing an easy win.

Sporting director Olaf Rebbe admitted that a transfer for Tzimas would be possible at the end of the season. The 46-year-old said: “We won't be giving up any top performers in the winter, but with a view to the summer we are obviously already looking at a few options.”

Liverpool would already be prepared to spend 30 million euros to secure Tzimas' signature. The young marksman

Speaking to German publication BILD, he said: “I try to do my best every day and do my part to ensure a successful season. We'll see what happens in the summer.

“I want to play in the Premier League one day. But until then there is still a lot to do and at the moment I am in the right place at the club for my personal development.”

Tzimas isn't the only player to have been linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks. Boss Arne Slot has made it clear that he does not want to respond to rumors.

“When you said you were affiliated with,” I thought, 'What club is he going to say next?' But you mean that as a club we are connected to Kvaratskhelia,” Slot said at his press conference last week.

“What I make of that is that this is January and I think I said it after the game against West Ham United [to journalists]please don't disappoint me, please come with all these players and all these clubs that are in our interest.

“Or those who don't play much for us go somewhere else. That.” [speculation] is what is happening now. And nine times out of ten or 99 times out of a hundred, by the end of the window it was clear that almost all of these stories were not true. So what can I say about it? Rumors continue to circulate about it, but there has been no comment from me.”
