Liverpool -Manager Arne Slot may have to notice that he has to provide reinforcements in the summer, depending on what happens to Mo Salah and Darwin Nunez
Arne Slot has been encouraged to reunite with striker Igor Paixao in Anfield. Brazilian attacker Paixao, 24, helped the Slot team to win the Eredivisie in 2023 and has 11 goals in all competitions this season.
Liverpool Manager Slot is located at a moving distance from the Premier League title, thanks to the objectives of Mohamed Salah. However, the rest of the front line has been less productive, with Salah the only player who hits double digits for competition goals.
If the Egyptian leaves in the summer when his contract ends, Slot must make at least one addition. Maybe he even should make two, with questions about the future of Darwin Nunez.
The Dutch international Cody Gakpo could play a greater role to play the next term, after he reached 16 goals this season before they encounter recent injuries. Another ex-Feyenoord boss, Rob Jacobs,, however, believes that Slot can find an upgrade on Gakpo in the form of Paixao.
“I really think he will make Liverpool stronger,” Jacobs told 1908.nl when he spoke about the South American, who brought to De Kuip in 2022. “Arne Slot must also enjoy his development.
“Gakpo is of course also a fantastic player and is doing well in Liverpool, but I think Paixao is better. It would not surprise me if Liverpool reported to Feyenoord. € 40 or 50 million [£33m-42m]? They don't make a stuff about that in England. “
“He gets better every day. Incredibly goal -oriented, he is the most dangerous man at Feyenoord. Really nothing but praise, he scores beautiful goals.”
Gakpo, 25, scored for the last time for Liverpool in their Carabao Cup semi -final victory over Tottenham on February 6. He came as a replacement in the final against Newcastle, but could not help the Slot team to destroy a shortage of two goals.
While his scoreless run is approaching at club level for two months – albeit with only one start and four replacement performances at the time – he was back between the goals during the international break. He scored for the Netherlands when they went 2-2 with Spain in the first stage of their UEFA Nations League quart final, but La Roja eventually won on penalties after a new draw on the Mestalla on Sunday.
Gakpo and Liverpool remain fixed favorites for the Premier League title, but Feyenoord has found things harder in the Eredivisie. Robin van Persie has taken it over as a manager in an attempt to restore the team to the Champions League places, but they are currently two points on drift of the third placed Utrecht.
