Athletic Club star Nico Williams apparently made it clear that he wants to add to Barcelona this summer, and although that can increase the chances that the Blaugrana was moving for him, this can influence its other options. In recent months, Williams has consistently linked to a switch to the Premier League, but that interest seems to have cooled.
After a meeting on Friday between Agent Felix Tainta and Barcelona director of Football Deco, De Blaugrana decided to renew their interest in the 22-year-old winger. It seems that Barcelona, who has been impeded by Liverpool in their attempts to sign Luis Diaz, was told that Williams was willing to make a movement happen and thus decided to try one. In the meantime, other teams who have shown interest in the athletic winger have shown that he will prioritize a move to Barcelona.
According to athletics, Arsenal and Chelsea have decided to illuminate their interest in Williams and consider other options. Mikel Arteta apparently loved Williams, but they postponed the combination of his preferences and the high costs of a deal (€ 58 million release clause and a high salary). The Gunners remain interested in real Madrid star Rodrygo, although there are also costs concerning that idea. In the meantime, Chelsea has made an attempt in recent weeks to sign Jamie Gittens.
Even before Barcelona's involvement, Bayern Munich was the side that the strongest movements had made for him. They had conversations with Williams Camp and presented him a first contract offer. They will not be able to complete the deal in standby if Barcelona, with Williams one of their two top priorities wide along the Bradley Barcola of Paris Saint-Germain.
