Arsenal and Tottenham transfer target Gomes pens Wolves extension

Reported Arsenal and Tottenham Transfer goal Joao Gomes has signed a five -year contract extension to stay with Wolves until 2030.

Gomes came to Wolves from Flamengo in January 2023 and has since become a favorite with fans at Molineux, making 72 Premier League performances and scored six goals.

Three of those strikes came this season, with only Matheus Cunha (13) and Jorgen Strand Larsen (nine) score more for wolves.

The Brazil -International was connected to a move to one of the largest clubs of the Premier League, but his Wolves contract, which reportedly does not contain a release clause, will now take another five years with an option to extend another 12 months.

Head coach Vorror Pereira said the club's website: “I am very happy because Joao is a team player. He gives 100%and he has the quality to help this team take the next step.

“At the end of every match, he gave everything for the team, defending, attacking, supporting his teammates, and this is what we need in our team.

“We have to come to Wolverhampton with this hunger, this mind to help the team. He is very important because he is a midfielder with physicality and the power to run for 90 minutes, and he is young. He has a great potential and can be a top player.”

Gomes' new contract will alleviate the fears that wolves lose several star players in the next transfer window, whereby the leading goal scorer Cunha will probably continue after a contract with a release clause of £ 62.5 million.

Wolves are currently nine points free from the relegation zone with nine games, the first Tuesday is against West Ham.
