Sporting Lisbon -striker Viktor Gyokeres has scouts from top clubs in Europe Verbaas
Arsenal is said to be set to decide whether they will all come out to sign Viktor Gyokeres or to pursue an alternative. Gyokeres is the most popular striker on the transfer market this summer after looting goals for Sporting Lisbon, but Arsenal will keep their options open for the time being.
The Sweden International has contributed no fewer than 53 goals and 13 assists in 51 games in all games this season and the Portuguese club knows that they can no longer hold him. He has attracted interest from all over Europe, scouts with his ability and consistency for the goal, and now is a decision.
Sporting has packed the competition title during the weekend and now goes for the Interior Double against Benfica in the Cup final on Sunday. As soon as that match is avoided, it will be an open season, where clubs submit bids to sporty and gyokees.
Arsenal is looking for a world -class center this summer and knows that they have to splash the money, with a third consecutive second place in the Premier League. New sports director Andrea Berta is the man who is responsible for finding the right player – and Gyokees could be that man.
The athletic, however, reports that the Gunners still have to select Gyokees firmly as their number one option, with RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko also on the photo. Arsenal has been aware of Sesko for some time and he may offer a cheaper alternative to the requested Swede.
Gyokees will be available for £ 60 million this summer, with sporting matters to do business for less than his reported release clause of £ 83.6 million. It seems that both sides of the potential transfer keep their cards close to their chest for the time being, where sporting midfielder Pedro Goncalves gives insight into the thinking of his teammate this week.
“I asked him and we asked him all. He says he is not a fortune narrator. We still have the Portuguese cup against Benfica to play,” he told Canal 11. “I have a very good relationship with him, but I don't talk about it.
Did you say! Is Viktor Gyokeres the right player for Arsenal? Respond below.
Mikel Arteta has talked about what the club needs to go to the next level for the last match of Arsenal of the season. “If you want to win big trophies, you have to be the best in the market, don't you?” Said Arteta. “What is clear with the amount of injuries we had in the front line is that we need a target threat and that we need firepower.
“Understanding that the context can change tomorrow, we can not only rely on the figures we had before. We have to do goals, add creativity and we have to add figures, and that will be in different positions.”
