Arsenal is said to lead the race to sign Sverre Nypan, despite the interest of the Sister Club of Manchester City Girona.
The 18-year-old has earned comparisons with Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard, who played for Rosenborg in his native Norway last season. NYPAN did 18 target contributions in 33 performances in all competitions for Rosenborg when they finished fourth in the Eliteserien.
And according to a report from The Guardian, Arsenal is 'hopeful' to agree a deal to sign the midfielder. The report states that Aston Villa and Tottenham are also interested in the services of Nypan, while he was seen on Saturday in the private box of Erling Haaland for the 3-1 victory of City over Chelsea on Saturday.
Nypan and his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, and the Stadsvoetbalgroep owned Girona with Arsenal for his services. The report adds that Rosenborg demands an initial £ 10 million requirements for NYPAN, plus 'important add-ons'.
Arsenal is on the market for reinforcements in midfield, with Thomas Peny and Jorginho possibly leaving the club with their contracts that end at the end of the season.
“We have certain situations with contracts that fall,” said Arsenal -Baas Mikel Arteta earlier this month. “We can extend those contracts as we have done in the past. We always actively evolve the team and understand what the players want to do if they complete our contract together, and we must be prepared.
'We don't have them at the moment [new signings]We are actively trying to find the best possible solution, but we will have to wait and see what we can do. It is clear that we have lost two huge players in the front line for us and we need some support there. “
Arsenal also hopes to strengthen their attacking options this month after both Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus have been put aside with serious injuries. Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig is strongly connected to a move to the Emirates.
However, Leipzig -Baas Marco Rose has insisted that the club will not sell their star striker in January. When asked by Sky Germany or Sesko 'it is certainly not allowed to leave the club in the winter' prior to their Champions League collision with Sporting last week, Rose replied: “Yes, that is still the case!”
