Arsenal has confirmed the signing of the Valencia defender Crithian Mosquera, who has signed a 'long-term contract'. It was previously reported that his contract will run for five or six years.
Mosquera no longer had a contract in Valencia next season, and with Los Che who delayed too long to present a new deal to the Spain Under-21 International, Arsenal decided to take a step for him. AC Milan and Atletico Madrid had previously shown interest in him, but Arsenal received the deal over the line for Mosquera and paid Valencia € 15 million plus up to € 4-5 million in variables.
Mosquera more or less confirmed the move last week that 'Valencia is my home and will always be', and noted that he was sad to leave Mestalla, but excited to join Arsenal. In total, Mosquera 91 appears for Valencia, after he became a regular starter three seasons ago under Ruben Baraja. Mosquera also won a gold medal with Spain last summer at the Olympic Games in Paris.
