Mikel Arteta has revealed that Jurrien Timber is a doubt for Arsenal's Make of Break Champions League Semi-final second leg trip to Paris Saint-Germain.
Timber missed the matchday team for Saturday's shock 2-1 defeat by Bournemouth in the Emirates and may not be fit enough to return on Wednesday.
Ben White started the place of the Dutchman and was able to keep his place in the Parc des Princes, where the side of Arteta will look to destroy a 1-0 aggregated deficit.
Asked if he was sure that wood in Paris would claim, Arteta said: “No. Full of confidence? At the moment no.
“He couldn't play here and we play in four days.”
Arteta pushed the exact problem of the defender and replied cryptically: “I can't tell you.”
Timber had played 83 minutes from the first leg loss before he was replaced by White.
The 23-year-old, who came to the club in 2023 in a £ 40 million deal, made a total of 47 performances this season, scored two goals and registered four assists.
Arteta will be in France without colleague defenders Gabalhaes and Takehiro Tomiyasu, while Riccardo Calafiori remains offside.
Calafiori suffered a knee injury in March at international duty with Italy and was excluded from Saturday's defeat, with Arteta refusing to give a time frame on his recovery.
The loss of Arsenal against Bournemouth leaves them in a struggle to retain second place in the Premier League – and Arteta encouraged his players to respond to PSG.
Declan Rice brought the Gunners into the lead, but Bournemouth fought back through the second half of goals from Dean Huijsen and Evanilson.
“We certainly wanted to create a positive atmosphere, a positive result would have really helped us to build what we wanted by Wednesday,” said Arteta.
'What we have made now is a lot of anger, anger, frustration and a bad feeling in the belly. So let's make sure we use it for Wednesday to have a huge achievement in Paris, win the game and in the [Champions League] Final. '
