Real Madrid again underwent a difficult game in the 2024-25 season when they were dumped from the Champions League by Arsenal on Wednesday. The Premier League side won 2-1 in the second stage of the quarterfinals, which provided them a 5-1 total victory for them.
There had been hope that Real Madrid could still complete a comeback from the Champions League, but in the end it never came close to it. According to Diario, a depressed Carlo Ancelotti spoke with Movistar to judge the game – and also the draw as a whole.
“We have to be honest, in the two games Arsenal deserved it and have reached the semi -final. There are two sides of football, the lucky part that has happened to us often and the sad part that we have to treat in the same way. It happened to us less than with other teams, but we have to manage it because it allows us to be in the next games.
“To change the dynamics, we needed something positive, such as the penalty he whistled and then started. We needed something to have more confidence, but we couldn't change the dynamics of the first stage. The draw was decided in the first stage.”
Ancelotti also chose to be positive around the rest of the season, which Real Madrid still sees in two games – as well as the Club World Cup, which is taking place this summer.
“Now we are in the fight for La Liga. We have a disadvantage, but we have the Barcelona game, we have the Copa del Rey -Final, the Club World Cup and we have to manage this part, what another part of football is that we are not used to. But it is time to keep our heads high and then learn from our mistakes.”
