Arsenal wants to strengthen their team this summer with Mikel Arteta, aware that his side in 'Win now' is territory and sports director Andrea Berta who wants to strengthen an attack that faltered in a season 2024-25 that was another case of so closed
Arsenal's striving for a new Wide Forward continues, with Mikel Arteta and sports director Andrea Berta still looking for a movement for a new left -sided option.
The Gunners were short of their pursuit of the Premier League title in the previous period, ended 10 points behind Champions Liverpool and failed to match their own total of the previous year. Arsenal ended on 74 points, 15 points less than in the 2023-24 campaign, with their inefficiencies in the attack, in the event of attack, their downfall eventually proven.
The men of Arteta scored 22 goals less in their 38 matches in the past term than they have managed the previous year. And although they only lost the same number of games as the men of Arne Slot, 14 draw – five more than the Merseysiders – are ultimately expensive.
Losing Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka did not help, forced with Mikel Merino in emergency action as a striker. It is therefore a must to strengthen their attacking ranks. The club's consensus is that a new No. 9 is required. Back -up striker Eddie Nketiah was sold last summer to Crystal Palace and not replaced, something that, looking back, maybe a mistake.
As such, Berta has worked on deals for both RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and at the same time Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokees – hoping to sign one to rival Havertz as an offensive focal point on the side. Sesko has been the best choice, but Gyokees remains a lot in the mix – to the extent that it is assumed, club bosses are now ready to close a deal for both, provided that it fits on what Arsenal believes that the real value is.
The Gunners have also pushed to chase an elite level left -wing player. They have Saka on the right, but Gabriel Martinelli has scored fewer competition goals in the past two seasons than in the 2022-23 campaign, and Arteta believes that time is the same to upgrade on the Brazilian. Making up the 24-year-old later in the summer, in the midst of interest from Bayern Munich and Saudi Arabia, is not excluded.
Nico Williams has been an important target for the Gunners, but the Spain -wing player seems to be increasingly likely to become a member of Barcelona. They are his desired choice and the Spanish champions that insist to close a deal – although his club, Athletic Bilbao, wants to pay his release clause. Ebereechi is also on their radar, but they know that he prefers to work centrally, and that Crystal Palace wants his £ 68 million released clause that is paid according to the conditions of his contract.
But the North -London club has also monitored Rodrygo from Real Madrid – and it will increasingly be encouraged that a deal can be closed.
The International Brazil would cost in the £ 70 million region and his wage requirements would make him one of the top earners of Arsenal. There is no doubt that he is an ambitious target.
But comparable to Mesut Ozil 12 years ago, who was signing the club at the time when he moved from the Bernabeu to the emirates, Rodrygo is cast aside in Madrid. And both the 15-way Champions League winners and the player themselves, may be open to a farewell to ways.
An old starter under Carlo Ancelotti, the Club World Cup has shown that Rodrygo is anything but a place under Xabi Alonso. The new Madrid boss tries new systems while he wants to do his stamp, cut and change between 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2, 4-3-3 and 3-4-2-1 in America during the early days of his term of office. But increasingly, and even despite Kylian Mbappe's health problems, Rodrygo has largely become a bystander in the US.
He did not start since the opening match against Al Hilal, when he was replaced in the 65th minute. On the left on the couch against Pachuca, he got a little more than 20 minutes against Salzburg before he was left on the couch on the couch on Tuesday evening.
With Alonso looking for Madrid to live less of moments and more about consistent dominance than his predecessor, Rodrygo seems to be more and more like the autumn man.
The Spaniard has decided that he cannot make a direction of his principles, while all four of Rodrygo, Mbappe, Vinicius JR and Jude Bellingham are all on the field. He has added Arda Guler to midfield, the Turkey International the heir to Luke Modric to give the side more control in addition to Fede Valverde, back in his best position after having spent a large part of the last term on full-back. Then there is also the arrival of river places Franco Mastantuono to consider.
Alonso has so far been very diplomatic about the role of Rodrygo in the club, insistently on it: “He will be an important player”. But the evidence on the field has suggested a lot and there is a consciousness that his comments always seem to point to a future that does not look like coming.
The player's camp is becoming increasingly aware that his days can be counted in Madrid. But they are willing to see how things progress in the summer and don't want to jump too fast.
Arsenal is also willing to play a waiting game. But convincing their chances of an ambitious movement and Rodrygo to go to the Premier League and fill the left -sided place where they want to upgrade are increasing.
