Arsenal comes after signing Chelsea wing player Noni Madueke, but the move did not go well with a part of the fan base of Gunners who have made a petition
Arsenal -fans are shamefully branded after a petition against the signing of Noni Madueke had attracted thousands of signatures. The Gunners are talking about signing the Chelsea wing player, who is at the Blues in the Club World Cup in the United States, where they are confronted in the final of Sunday opposite Paris Saint-Germain.
Arsenal is supposed to have submitted an £ 50 million bid, plus add-on, for the 23-year-old, in which head coach Mikel Arteta wanted to strengthen his team for another attack on the Premier League title.
It seems to be a case of when, not if, the international English international moves to the red half of North Londs, with personal conditions already agreed. However, a group of dissatisfied fans went to the extreme by setting up an online petition that explains their opposition against the transfer.
The petition, decorated with the #notomadueke Hashtag and with an image of Madueke with a Red Cross over his face, had collected just over 2,000 signatures on Thursday afternoon.
The campaign has received criticism from other Arsenal fans, who have labeled the “shameful”, while supporters of rival clubs have mocked the petition. One regretted: “This fan base is ready. Who started a petition for Madueke?” Another stated: “Displaying behavior.”
A third expressed their dismay and said, “Absolutely shameful behavior, we are really the worst fan base in the world.”
One supporter jumped to the defense of the Seven-Cap International and posted: “I understand the frustration with the possible signing of Madueke, but some of our fan base are total idiots. Petities? Online abuse? Growing! England International, 23 years old, and has unreal pace. Go behind the player (and team).”
While the numbers of the petition rose in thousands, a Gunners fan emphasized: “1000 people do not represent Arsenal.”
With Arsenal who still chases Viktor Gyokeres, a striker that many fans are desperate, some have expressed their irritation about the interest of the club in Madueke. An unfortunate fan said: “Not that we don't like him [Madueke]. The club has not signed the player we want. This is just the example of the reason why we bashed him. We need a good number.
Another agreed and said: “The fans are fed up. Instead of getting Gyokeres, the club is willing to spend more than £ 50 million for another Chelsea player. Do we really need Noni? Now that your Sesko, Gyokees and Osimhen are missing, it is a different season. Something is not good with this club.”
If Chelsea Madueke in cash for the aforementioned amount, this would represent a profit after paying PSV £ 28.5 million for him just over two years ago. A brutal blues supporter could not resist giving Arsenal -fans some advice: “LOL. They have to take him with them. He can be frustrating 85% of the time, but 15% of the time really exciting, and that is what a backup should be.”
Negotiations with sporting CP with regard to gyokeres have been a snag because of various ratings by the Swedish attacker. In the meantime, Arsenal is priced from a different target, Benjamin Sesko, which contributes to the frustrations of the supporters.
