Relieved Carsley keen to help incoming England boss Tuchel

Lee Carsley is eager to provide information and assistance to new England head coach Thomas Tuchel.

Carsley signed off as interim manager of England with an impressive 5-0 win over the Republic of Ireland, who were reduced to 10 men.

All England's goals came in the second half at Wembley, where Harry Kane's opener was quickly supplemented by first international goals for Anthony Gordon, Conor Gallagher, Jarrod Bowen and Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

The victory saw the Three Lions promoted back to the top tier of the Nations League, ahead of Tuchel's official arrival as coach in January.

And while Carsley hinted he has not enjoyed his time in charge of the senior side, he is keen to give Tuchel a helping hand when the German starts.

“The number of players has increased,” Carsley told BBC Radio 5 Live, having handed out a total of eight debuts during his time in charge.

'I'll give him as much information as he needs.

“I enjoyed some of it, the games were always the best.

“I'm still upset about the match against Greece at home. If anything, I don't think about the five wins, but about the win we lost.”

Greece defeated England at Wembley last month, but the Three Lions bounced back with a 3-0 win in Athens on Thursday, paving the way for a victory over Ireland to secure their promotion from League B.

“We talked about it at the first press conference, about getting promotion in the Nations League, and it was a relief if I'm honest,” said Carsley.

“I don't think you can ever get too excited, the performance against Greece was so good. For at least three minutes on the bus to the airport I was excited but then I thought we had another game in hand.”

“I enjoyed watching the boys, playing with the aggression and intention they played with.

“I loved the reaction of the crowd at half-time. If they had gotten a little nervous it would have rubbed off on the players. I think they could see that the players were playing with intent.”

England's victory was the biggest victory by a manager in their last match against the Three Lions since Graham Taylor in November 1993 (7-1 against San Marino).

On their 19th meeting, this was England's biggest ever win over Ireland.

After a 0-0 score at half-time, this was also the largest winning margin ever for England (five) in a match that had remained goalless at half-time.
