Arsenal in advanced talks to sign €60m La Liga superstar

Arsenal has regularly looked at the La Liga market in recent years, and in 2025 they are expected to sign one of the best midfielders in the competition, who are the real Sociedad Pivot Martin Zubimendi.

In the past three seasons, Zubimendi has regularly attracted vooragers from all over Europe. Barcelona wanted him as their successor to Sergio Busquets, while Liverpool came very close to signing him last summer. Real Madrid has even considered him an option to improve their midfield, but during all this he stayed at La Real, although his time in his boy's club now seems to end.

Arsenal has been interested in Zubimendi for some time and after signing former teammate Mikel Merino last summer, they are ready to make their move. They are confident to get a deal over the line during the transfer window and there is still being done behind the scenes.

As reported by David Ornstein of the Athletic (via caughtside), Arsenal would be in advanced conversations to sign Zubimendi. Personal conditions are sorted, with the only bottleneck behind the tariff structure.

La Real wants Arsenal to activate the € 60 million release clause from Zubimendi, for which a one-off payment should be in advance. However, the Premier League side would rather pay in installments, and negotiations have stopped because of this collision. With many weeks to go until the summer transfer window is opened, it is not expected to limit the deal.

It will be a big blow to La Real to lose Zubimendi, although they all have his ready-made replacement in Benat Turrientes. The money raised will be desperately needed, because this season it has shown that the IManol Alguacil team has many problems – especially in the goalkeeping department, so it would be no surprise to see another new striker arriving in the Reale Arena.
