Arsenal and Manchester United have received a boost in their pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres, with Sporting Lisbon reportedly prepared to accept add-ons as part of a deal for the productive Swedish striker.
Sporting has held a fee in the region of € 80 million (£ 69 million) for Gyokeres, who has scored 97 goals in 102 games in the last two club seasons.
But the Portuguese champions can now be open to payment structures that include realistic bonuses to achieve that figure.
The news comes as Arsenal and United this summer want to strengthen their attacking options, with both clubs long-term admirers of the 27-year-old, who has a release clause of around € 100 million (£ 86 million) in his sports contract.
According to a Bola, Sport remains firm on their overall appreciation, but are willing to accept an offer in the region of € 70 million (£ 60.5 million) in advance, with an additional € 10 million (£ 8.5 million) in achievable bonuses to reach their desired asking price.
This represents a shift in the fear that the Portuguese champions would demand the full € 80 million (£ 69 million) in one payment.
Sporting expects Gyokeres to report on Monday on their Cristiano Ronaldo Academy Base on Monday, despite previous reports that the striker could skip his return in protest about an unfulfilled promise with regard to his sale.
The agent of Gyoke, Hasan Cetinkaya, would believe that the player received verbal guarantees from the former sports director of Sports, Hugo Viana, that he could leave this summer for between € 60 million (£ 52 million) and € 70 million (£ 60.5 million).
The situation has created tension, but Sporting continues to trust the reporting of Gyokees as planned, even while Premier League interest continues to circle.
Arsenal is previously linked to a £ 10 million (£ 11.5 million) ADD-us approach of € 55 million (£ 64 million), while United also monitors the situation and also looks at other goals.
Gyokeres came to Sporting from Coventry City in July 2023 for a first fee of € 20 million (£ 17 million) plus € 4 million (£ 3.5 million) in add-ons.
He is under contract until June 2028.
