Arsenal is interested this summer in athletic Bilbao -wing player Nico Williams.
The Spain International is one of a number of attackers who sign the Gunners and they have followed him for a while. Sky Sports News reported Arsenal in Williams last summer.
The 22-year-old is primarily a left wing player and shone in the euro for Spain in 2024 and scored in the last victory over England. Williams was very coveted last year throughout Europe, especially by Barcelona, but eventually remained in Bilbao.
New Arsenal Sporting Director Andrea Berta and manager Mikel Arteta are preparing to strengthen the team and Williams is known to Berta after his long stint in Spain with Atletico Madrid.
Arteta recently said that it would be a “big” summer in the transfer market for Arsenal and he was “excited” about the prospect of spending on new players.
Arsenal looks at Wingers, with the loan from Raheem Sterling from Chelsea planned to end. They also want to strengthen in the central midfield, both Thomas Pardeny and Jorginho from the contract, and in Center -Forward – an area in which they do not miss any options.
One of the center-forces they have followed are Sports's Viktor Gyokeres, Alexander Isak from Newcastle, RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and Wolves' Matheus Cunha.
Arsenal Bid on Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa in January, but it is understood that the interest has cooled since then.
It was assumed that the move was very based at that time on the situation, with the move from Jhon Duran to Saudi Arabia and still in the air.
Arsenal is now looking for a younger center-forward than the 29-year-old Watkins and assess a number of options on the market.
Sky Sports News reported in January that they were working on a deal for the real Sociedad -midfielder Martin Zubimendi and they remain sure that they will get that over the line.
What is on the Berta task list?
Arsenal has confirmed the appointment of Andrea Berta as their new sports director, so what's in the agenda of the former Chief of Atletico Madrid in the Emirates Stadium?
The most urgent task of Berta will be to strengthen Arsenal's attack. Their injuries this season have uncovered a lack of depth in their forward line. The need for more firepower is clear.
It is not only about getting players through the door in Arsenal, with key figures such as Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli who all entered the last two years of their contracts this summer.
There are also players who need to be moved. Criticism has been labeled at Arsenal in the past because they do not generate enough through players' sales, so that Berta can have a major impact in this area.
