Arsenal van Mikel Arteta stands for a home game against Fulham to start their Premier League season after the international break – and there is still plenty to play for when they look to keep their vague title shops alive and keep progress in Europe
Arsenal may not be involved with the FA Cup this weekend after their early exit, but Mikel Arteta will be grateful for the extra days of recovery and preparation while preparing for Fulham on Tuesday evening.
The Gunners still have a weak hope to get Liverpool on the Premier League title, but they must have an almost perfect end to the campaign after falling behind the Reds.
Arteta is also preparing for a huge quarter-final-equal game from Champions League against Real Madrid, with the first stage at the Emirates next week, so there is still enough to play for.
With that in mind, Mirror Football broke the last Arsenal news and gossip that you need to know.
Cunha wants to leave wolves
One of the biggest disappointments in Arsenal this season will undoubtedly be their failure to get a new striker in both transfer window.
The lack of firepower of the Gunners cost them and ensured that they were left by the impressive Liverpool team of Arne Slot, which offers the star ahead, such as Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo.
Arsenal was connected to a large number of strikers in January, including Alexander Isak from Newcastle, Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa and Wolves star Matheus Cunha.
Unfortunately for Arteta there was no movement for one of those players, even though the club made a late step for Watkins, with a transfer for Cunha also excluded after he signed a new contract in Molineux.
But now the Brazilian – who has 13 goals for Vitor Pereira this season – has now revealed that he wants a new challenge next season and a challenge for awards at the highest level. Arsenal could get hope to close a deal for Cunha in the summer after he insisted that he “wanted to fight for titles”, and said it was not possible to leave the mid -season.
“I had many offers (to leave in January), but I would not feel good if I had done it,” Cunha told The Guardian. “Some things you can't control, but I couldn't leave the club in the middle of the season, in a difficult situation, in the relegation zone.
“Now we are almost achieving our goal [of staying up]. But I made it clear that I have to take the next step. I want to fight for titles, for great things. I have potential. “
Berta determines three new signing sessions
Arsenal -fans must be optimistic in the future after they have finally received their new transfer leader. Andrea Berta has arrived and is responsible for bringing quality to the emirates that the club will make in title winners.
The 53-year-old will play a key role this summer in the transfer company of Arsenal, while he is looking for the signing sessions that can help the Gunners to compete with Liverpool next season-plus the threat of a revival of Manchester City.
It is clear that Arsenal needs a new attacker and that is at the top of the list, with Red Bull Leipzig -star Benjamin Sesko said he was high on their shortlist of goals in that area.
But Mirror Football reported that Berta is also looking for a new left wing player, a defensive midfielder.
We know that Arsenal is approaching in a movement for real Soceidad -midfielder Martin Zubimendi, while Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao is also a target.
Further on the priority list is a new back-up goalkeeper, with uncertainty about the future of on-Loan Bournemouth Shot-stop-stop Neto. The club tried to bring in Espanyol -keeper Joan Garcia last summer and may have a crack at the end of the season.
Arsenal will also be looking to refill their talent pool with more young prospects and they could take a new step for Norwegian Sverre Nypan after they had held conversations about him earlier in the season.
Arsenal could benefit from the sale of the saints
This may not be news with regard to an incoming signing, but it will certainly be interesting for Arsenal if it means that it means more money in the war box to devote newcomers.
Arsenal already sold Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton last summer and could be a profit if the goalkeeper again changes from clubs to the next transfer window, whereby the club in particular is degraded to the championship.
Ramsdale will gladly stay at the highest level to remain in conflict for the English team and there can be interest in the former Shot-stop-stop-stop-stop.
The Gunners negotiated a sales clause when he came to the South Coast Club at the start of the season for £ 18 million, so Arsenal will look with interest to see what happens to his future.
He is just one of the many Southampton stars that could look to jump if they are inevitably sent – which can happen in the coming weeks if they are only nine points – 17 points of safety.
Young talent Tyler Dibbling is also expected to leave for an eye-water allowance, each of which could be as high as £ 100 million, in which Tottenham, Manchester City and Manchester United would all be interested.
