Arsenal plan next move after £60m Watkins bid rejected as five-man list emerges

Arsenal has had a £ 60 million offer for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins rejected – but are ready to make a new offer.

And the Gunners are also interested in Wil-Away Bayern Munich Winger Mathys Tel, who has indicated his intention to move.

Gunners -Baas Mikel Arteta is desperate to strengthen his strike force before the transfer window closes on Monday, but Watkins must go down like a surprise.

Arsenal are long -term admirers and had Watkins on their short list before they signed Gabriel Jesus in the summer of 2022. Arteta loves his work ket, pace and creativity, but has generally gone for younger players through his reign, but they have spent money and is also well within their PSR limits.

But Watkins is now 29, Villa does not want to sell and cannot run the risk of losing the English striker with Saudi interest in Jhon Duran in this window.

Watkins, a lifelong Arsenal fan of a family of Arsenal -fans, set a new record on Sunday when he gave an assist for West Ham because he was involved in 100 Premier League objectives -69 goals and 31 assists -in 169 performances. Watkins even said it was a “lifelong dream” to play for Arsenal and it is clearly a movement that could appeal to him.

Arsenal is enthusiastic about RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and he remains their target in the long term before the summer, but they clearly need a striker to stimulate their season. Jesus is out with a long -term knee injury and Kai Havertz is their only center forward, so that is ready to go on the winter market.

Villa does not want to sell and have rejected the opening approach, but Arsenal will probably go back, even if their interest is not welcome.

Arsenal also wants wide options and French Starlet Tel is on their radar after the 19-year-old gave his wish to move.

Tel can be available after he has received the lack of a few minutes in this window and if Arsenal could make a loan or agreement to make it permanent in the summer, this can appeal. They are also confronted with competition with Chelsea also on Alert.

They also love Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams and Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo, but neither would be available until the summer.
