Arsenal plunge into injury crisis as Havertz suffers issue during training trip

Arsenal -striker Kai Havertz has sustained a worrying injury -shock during the club's training trip to Dubai.

Mail Sport understands that the Germany International suffered the problem during a session earlier this week.

Sources have indicated that the problem is related, although the precise diagnosis is not confirmed.

The club will confirm the size of the problem in due course, but every hamstring injury will probably lead to Havertz running time on the sidelines.

Mikel Arteta will hope that any absence is minimal with his team that is already exhausted in attacking areas with Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli, all missing by injury.

Havertz is the top scorer of the club this season with 15 goals and every unavailability will arrive as a big blow to the team's ambitions to overhaul Liverpool at the top of the table this season.

In the meantime, Arsenal Star Takehiro Tomiyasu's long -term fitness of growing concern about the prospect of a second knee operation has been investigated by the club.

The Japanese defender played only six minutes of football this season and comes up as a late replacement in the Carabao Cup victory in Southampton in October, after a three -month recovery from a knee injury in which he saw the start of the season missing.

But since that victory, he has no longer played on the saints after an injury setback and post sport understands that there are emerging fears about the difficult knee of Tomiyasu with doctors who were believed to send their versatile defender for an operation in an attempt To cure the issue.

A procedure would require a long -term rehabilitation program and probably rule Tomiyasu for a considerable period.

In 2023, Tomiyasu underwent an original knee operation that kept the 26-year-old for three months out of operation.

With that in mind, a second knee procedure would arrive as a blow to Tomiyasu, whose time at Arsenal has already been hit by problems with injuries.

Head coach Mikel Arteta, last month, gave a positive update about the fitness of Tomiyasu and said: 'Tomi did some things on the field, but now because it has been an injury in the long term, we must see how quickly he can claim and How he responds. '

But there is now some pessimism with regard to the recovery of Tomiyasu, news strengthened by conversations about a possible operation.

Tomiyasu's contract is still 18 months old to run, but with Arsenal well filled at the back, the defender can listen to offers at the end of the season.

However, the plans to sell Tomiyasu, which did not travel to Dubai during the club's mid-winter trip, must be suspended if he goes under the knife.

The upcoming return to Ben White fitness will help to mitigate the blow of the constant unavailability of Tomiyasu.

White, who underwent a knee operation in November, will return and can be named in the team this weekend after Leicester.
