Atletico Madrid -attacker Julian Alvarez has settled this season as the starman in their forward line, after Los Rojiblancos had expressed € 75 million to sign him from Manchester City, in a deal that could rise to € 90 million. Less than a year after his time in Atletico, there are already clubs that want to pry him.
Although Atletico remains sure that they can keep Alvarez, several reports claimed last week that his representatives would have conversations this week with Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Liverpool. Barcelona is also interested, albeit for next year, but they are cited as perhaps the only offer that Alvarez would listen to.
These reports have been confirmed by Marca, who say that Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in a deal this year. Their information is that Arsenal pushes the hardest for his signature, where former Atletico sports director Andrea Berta is active. The way his salary is € 7 million a year plus € 1 million in bonuses, but Los Colchoneros will not be involved in an auction when a larger supply arrives.
Los Rojiblancos, however, has worked a lot to their advantage. Alvarez is not enthusiastic about the idea of returning to the Premier League and feels more comfortable in the Spanish capital. Moreover, he is satisfied with the Metropolitano.
Atletico is also planning to build their side around Alvarez and will make signing sessions to surround him with talent. Diego Simeone and the club are convinced that he is a cornerstone of their future, and one of their primary goals is to keep the Argentinian happy.
One of the questions that Simeone and director of Voetbal Carlos Bucero will have to answer is with whom he cooperates. Alvarez and Griezmann seemed to be a thriving collaboration, but with the Frenchman who is struggling for form in the second half of the season, a change will be needed to see him return. Simeone has generally preferred to use Alexander Sorloth from the bank, even though he was the most efficient of their attackers, while they are also linked to a number of attackers for this summer.
