Arsenal has struggled this season with a series of injury problems and manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that they also have an effect on the plans of the club for the summer transfer window
Arsenal could be forced to change their transfer plans after Mikel Arteta had admitted that there are “big question marks” about how some of their most important players will recover from surgery. Arsenal's Premier League title was derailed this season by injuries to various top stars.
Bukayo Saka has just returned after three months out of operation with a serious hamstring problem, while Gabriel Magalhaes, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have all sustained seasonal injuries.
Jesus recovers from the knee operation, while both Gabriel and Havertz needed surgery after the suffering of hamstring injuries. And the recovery of the couple from an operation could have a major effect on the transfer activities of Arsenal, whereby Andrea Berta recently becomes the new sports director of the club.
When asked how Arsenal's injury problems to influence the summer of plans, Arteta replied: “It makes it harder. There are some players who will start the season after surgical intervention and that is always a big question mark.
“We don't know how capable those players will be to keep busy periods. Let's see if it influences our transfer plans, but we have to be very aware of it.
“There are many uncertainties with regard to what some of those players will be able to deal, especially for the first five, six months of the season.”
Gabriel sustained his injury earlier this week when Arsenal Fulham defeated 2-1, but Arteta believes that the club can deal without him. “It was a difficult one to digest because we just got Bukayo back and then we lost Gabi,” he admitted.
“So it was difficult, but the team responded as if it responded all season. I am really proud of that and we know that he will be out for a while, so we have to find different solutions and continue to compete the way we have been the whole season.
“We got so far and now we have the most important, beautiful part of the season. We have to respond to those things, and that means that other players have opportunities to play and the team must find other ways.
“It is undoubtedly a big miss, but we have the means to deal with it. Ricky [Calafiori] Is not fit, and that means that we have lost or so four players in the past week and that is clearly a big task.
“But let's see how Ben [White] and Jurrien [Timber] Are tomorrow. There is an opportunity [they could be fit]. That is it – we have to keep playing and competing as we have been.
“We have a few [calls]So tonight or tomorrow we will have to decide very early in the morning which players we can play and how long.
“There are a few [options] On the table. How far we have to follow that route, hopefully not that deep, but there are always options. “
