Arsenal has regularly looked at the La Liga market in recent years, and it seems that their plans will be no different in 2025. Martin Zubimendi, who is also sought by Real Madrid, and Nico Williams is supposed to be on their shortlist, and another Spanish talent that is still being sought is Joan Garcia.
Last summer Arsenal was very interested in signing Garcia, but because it took them so long to sell Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton, they missed the boat while Espanyol refused to negotiate in the last days of the transfer star. As such, they had to settle for borrowing ex-Barcelona goalkeeper Neto.
Since then, Garcia has settled as an excellent artist in La Liga. Espanyol has had a difficult season so far, but it would have been much worse if it hadn't been for their 23-year-old keeper, who made a competition-high 82 Saves in 22 performances.
Because Espanyol refused to negotiate when Arsenal finally made their step for Garcia last summer, this meant that the asking price was his release clause of € 30 million. However, this figure will fall at the end of the season to € 25 million for the first few weeks of the coming transfer window.
According to the enchanted side, Arsenal are still interested in Garcia, who they want to add to their goalkeeper ranks next to David Raya. If he makes the switch to the Emirates Stadium in the summer, it is likely that he would arrive as a backup.
If you take this into account, Garcia can be put off by a move to Arsenal, unless he is guaranteed by head coach Mikel Arteta that he can challenge Raya to become the number one goalkeeper. Espanyol will hope they can keep his services, although that will be extremely difficult to do at the end of this season if they are relegation from La Liga.
