Arsenal has signed another player from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, because another deal between the London Rivals was announced on Saturday.
The player in question is also the son of a former Champions League winner who was a surprise name when the Blues de Trophy turned for the first time in 2012.
He chose to exchange West-London for the north of the capital after he appeared eight times as a trial for the U21 team of Chelsea in 2024-25.
The talented teenager is the son of Ryan Bertrand, who started the 2012 final for Chelsea against Bayern Munich – who won Chelsea on penalties.
Bertrand then became a Premier League regular for Southampton, where he made 240 performances after he had moved from Stamford Bridge in 2015 after a loan spell on the south coast.
Marcell Washington, 17,, however, revealed that he will not take his own football career for granted despite the success of his father.
He said to Arsenal's club website: “I think it was such an honor to have him taken by Clips and to lead me by games I played,” Marcell said on his signing day.
'He is really passionate about making me a better player and probably a better version of him. We may have a bit of a fight about it, but you get it out of him. '
'My ambitions are just to prove in every game you play and every training session you have. I think football is all about evidence. I feel that only because I signed this contract does not necessarily mean that I have made it.
'I think I have to prove a lot and I look forward to doing that. Hopefully the coaching staff can clearly see that through my game.
'It's a very hospitable club. From the first day when I came here, I felt really welcome. That goes from the staff to the players.
'I think it is of course a very big club. The club always strives to win trophies. I am just looking to be an addition to that and see what I can offer the club. '
His signing comes after Arsenal has already agreed to bring Kepa Arrizabalaga to the Emirates Stadium that has activated its £ 5 million release clause.
The Gunners have also been set up to confirm the signing of Kepa's former teammate Noni Madueke for a fee of £ 52 million.
