Gabriel's injury comes only seven days before the first leg of the Gunners' Champions League quarterfinals with Real Madrid.
The center-back is almost always present for Arsenal this season.
He started with 28 of their 30 Premier League matches and missed two in December due to a knee injury.
The commander defender was also selected in nine of Arsenal's 10 Champions League matches this period, including both legs of their last 16 triumph over PSV Eindhoven.
