Arsenal star William Saliba issues transfer statement ahead of contract decision

Arsenal -defender William Saliba has insisted that the club is “very close” to win a trophy and the team “can't stop working” while the Frenchman is approaching the Emirates in the last two years.

In the past two seasons, Saliba has been one of the most consistent players in Arsenal after emerging as one of the Premier League Top Center backs.

The consistent displays of the 23-year-old have helped Arsenal to set up three consecutive Premier League title challenges, but the team has been tormented in Manchester City in the past two seasons before he sees Liverpool clear 15 points in this campaign.

The only realistic hope of Arsenal to win silverware is in the Champions League after beating PSV 7-1 in the first stage of their last 16-drawing game, but could then be confronted with Real Madrid in the quarterfinals.

Saliba spoke about the ambitions of Arsenal and also seemed to bind his future to the club after he said he wanted to help the team to end their five-year trophy-dried.

“I think we are very close, we have to continue,” Saliba said. “We can't stop working. If you are close by and do not win trophies, it is sad, we will take a big step with work and I am sure we will arrive there.”

The International in France added: “Everyone wants to win the Champions League, it is a competition that is difficult to win, everything can happen.”

Saliba, who reportedly earns slightly less than £ 200,000 a week at the Emirates, will see its current deal expires at the end of the 2026-27 season.

Arsenal will soon be happy to tie Saliba to fresh terms for fear of being placed in the same difficult position as Liverpool is currently in Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander -Arnold and Virgil van Dijk – who are all ready to become free agents when things stand.

In recent months, Saliba has been associated with a move to Real Madrid, because they are looking for defensive coverage after a number of injuries to their backline – including Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao.

Recent reports in Spain have suggested that Madrid is monitoring the situation of Saliba and could make an offer for him in 2026, when he is left for his contract for another year.
