William Saliba has warned Premier League rivals after Arsenal had completed the signing of 'Enge' Viktor Gyokeres.
After a summer saga, the side of Mikel Arteta confirmed the arrival of the Swede on Saturday in a transfer of £ 64 million from Sporting Lisbon.
Fans got their first look at Gyokeres, who scored 52 goals in 54 games last season, when he was unveiled for Arsenal's 3-2 pre-season friendly victory over Newcastle in Singapore.
But for Saliba, the new signing does not need any introduction after their collision in the Champions League last season.
He said: 'We know how good he is, how it is scary to play against him. If you are confronted with a striker who scores goals, you must be focused, but now he is in our team and he will score for us, so that's good.
“Of course I am so happy to have him in my club, and I am sure he will help us win games and win trophies.”
In the meantime, Saliba hopes to expand his stay in Arsenal by signing a new long-term contract, in the footsteps of Centrum-back partner Gabriel.
The Frenchman has two more years about his current deal, but there are conversations about innovation.
He told reporters: 'Yes, hopefully. Of course there is nothing now, but there is a good conversation with my agent and the club. Let's look. '
Saliba is hopeful Arsenal will go beyond the line and win the title in the coming season after he has been strengthened with the signing sessions of people like Martin Zubimendi, Noni Maduke and Gyokees.
“Every year is different,” the defender added. 'We have to learn from the last three seasons. Of course we are lucky that we get the chance to compete again in the Premier League and try to win.
'Our way of thinking is to win the Premier League and we will give everything from the first game. We have many new players and hopefully they will help us win this competition. '
