Arsenal striker target Benjamin Sesko sends clear message to new boss Klopp

Benjamin Sesko produced a stunning goal for RB Leipzig in front of Jurgen Klopp as interest in the striker continues.

The Slovenian has risen rapidly and was at Red Bull Salzburg before his move to Germany, where he continues to flourish. Sesko has already reached double figures this season, after scoring eighteen times in his debut season.

His last goal came against Werder Bremen when he scored his team's third of the afternoon. Sesko kept his head above the ball and hammered the ball into the top corner before staggering away in celebration with Klopp in the stands to watch.

The German has agreed to become 'Head of Global Soccer' for Red Bull – a job he started on January 1. The former Liverpool boss will oversee the company's international network of football clubs, advising them on playing philosophy, transfer strategy and coaching development.

Speaking on Einfach mal Luppen, a podcast hosted by former Germany midfielder Toni Kroos and his brother Felix, Klopp said: “Basically I am an advisor. Hopefully I can bring peace in different ways and assess things correctly in other situations and help the coaches. But I just want to support, not intervene, because I know how disruptive that is. Instead, I want to pass on my experience and work in the world I know best.”

He will no doubt advise Leipzig to keep Sesko – or at least ensure they demand top dollar. Arsenal have previously been interested in the Slovenian and their need for a striker has been well documented, with talk of a possible move in the summer.

Despite having Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United among his suitors, Šeško opted to stay in Leipzig in June and extended his existing contract for another year until 2029.

In Sesko's debut year he became the youngest player ever to score in seven consecutive Bundesliga games and has remained productive this season. Leipzig has shown itself willing to sell its top stars for the right price, saying goodbye to the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Josko Gvardiol in recent years.

On the interest in him, he said: “I don't comment on transfer rumours. I am happy in Leipzig and that is why I recently extended my contract. I want to achieve even more great things here, Leipzig still wants to grow a lot and I want to accompany the team on this very intriguing journey.”
