Arsenal is all ready to close a deal for Martin Zubimendi this summer, so that they will pay more than his release clause of € 60 million to get a player of start quality. However, their affairs in Spain may not be done this summer, in the midst of left to Rodrygo from Real Madrid, and they could try to add a further depth in midfield.
According to athletics (via caught offside), Arsenal is interested in Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoume. The former interproduct arrived on loan in Sevilla 18 months ago before Los Nervionseses made the deal permanent. Arsenal is supposedly looking for further depth in the middle of the field, despite the Zubimendi deal, both Jorginho and Thomas Partey will leave this summer. Agoume is one of the options on the table.
Sevilla spent € 4 million on Agoume for 50% of its rights last summer, and has an option to buy another 40% from Inter for € 4.5 million. That was their first plan, Ed said, but the arrival of sports director Antonio Cordon instead of Victor Orta apparently stopped those plans. Earlier this year, Manchester United was linked to Agoume, and more recently also Borussia Dortmund.
To perform Seville that option and make a profit, they would need an offer of more than € 10 million to arrive, although he has a release clause of € 40 million, and their requirements are probably much higher. While things stand out, Int earns half of any transfer costs.
Agoume is always considered a very talented midfielder who comes through and is part of the setup under 21 of France. That said in a difficult situation, Agoume has experienced good spells and others where he noticed less this season, even if his ability to be effective is visible. This season he was almost always a starter for Sevilla, who made 37 performances, scored once and assisted three times. He was also sent once and collected 2,291 minutes.
