Arsenal to battle Man Utd for £50m Viktor Gyokeres transfer as new chief Andrea Berta compiles four-man striker wishlist

The new sports director of Arsenal, Andrea Berta, has added Manchester United-Target Viktor Gyokeres to his four-member Spits wish list prior to a huge summer-reinforcement.

And the former chef of Atletico Madrid has sworn that he will help bring “big trophies” to the emirates.

Berta, 53, replaces Edu after his resignation last November.

He is expected to attend the Premier League collision of Gunners at Fulham on Tuesday at home.

The Italian, who left his role in Atletico in January, will be given the task of bringing in an elite no. 9.

There is a crucial summer ahead of the men of Mikel Arteta, while Arsenal tries to win a first prem-title since 2003-04.

Sunsport revealed last week that Arsenal Eintracht Frankfurt Hitman Hugo Ekitike looks like an alternative to £ 150m Rated Newcastle star Alexander Isak.

Isak has enjoyed a wonderful season in the northeast, in the Carabao Cup final and scored 19 times in the competition.

The Swede, 25, will remain contracted until 2028 to Newcastle without release clause in its current deal.

But the tone is not planning to sell Isak and wants to build a team around him.

Ekitike has attracted the attention of a number of Prem clubs, with the Gunners at the head of the queue.

Frankfurt is expected to have around £ 60 million requirements for the striker, who has 19 goals this season.

The Gunners have also been associated with Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, but now Sporting's Gyokeres is also in sight.

Slovenian international Sesko has a release clause of £ 59 million in his contract, while Gyokees remains one of the most popular property in Europe.

The former Coventry striker has 85 goals and 26 assists in 92 games for Sporting Lisbon.

But there could be competition from Manchester United for his signature, where he would enjoy a reunion with former sports boss Ruben Amorim.

Gyokees is supposed to have a release plan in the £ 50 million region.

Berta could try to raise money for a summer spree by discharging squadron players such as Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The co-chairman of Arsenal, Josh Kroenke, said: “Andrea will help us get on and take the next steps in our attempt to win big trophies.

“He has enormous knowledge, a great track record, a strong network and a desire to build winning teams.”

Berta will also focus on contract innovations for Sterren Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli, whose deals expire in June 2027.

The new man of the Gunners said: “I am very happy to become a member of Arsenal in what is a very exciting period for the club.”

He arrives after the departure of the Brazilian Edu, who is ready to play a new role in the Multi-Club model of Nottingham Forest Evangelos Marinakis.

Berta spent 12 years with Atletico in the Spanish capital.

He played a key role in building squadrons that La Liga won in 2014 and 2021 and the Europa League 2018.
