Arsenal told it’s time to sell £45m star Mikel Arteta pushed for

Arsenal has not been afraid to splash the money this summer, but it has left a few players nervous to keep their future in the eyes of Emirates Stadium for the coming campaign

Arsenal has been told that they should say goodbye to Gabriel Jesus by Gunners icon Alan Smith this summer. The Brazilian striker has passed a roller coaster tint at the Emirates after a relocation of £ 45 million from Manchester City.

Jesus, 28, has scored 26 goals in 96 performances in all competitions. But his time as a shooter is decimated by injuries – a serious injury that limits its season in the past term prematurely.

And Smith now believes that the time is now good for the striker to continue, especially after the arrival of the big money from the former sporty Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres. Speaking with Metro, the former Arsenal -man said: 'I think someone like Gabriel Jesus might give his track record with injuries.

“He may be one that you say, thanks and try to move it further, get a little money. Of course, with Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz, there might not be too many opportunities for him this season.”

And although Smith believes that this summer may be the right time to go separately with Jesus, he has urged Mikel Arteta to hold Wingers Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, despite the reported interest in Ebereechi Eze and Rodrygo.

He added: “I would be tempted to keep Leandro Trossard because he is a versatile player who did well and scored important goals. I don't think you would like to lose him. And the same thing with Martinelli actually – he didn't have the best of the seasons, but I think you certainly want to keep it.”

Jesus has already spoken about his future in Arsenal. Speaking in January, he suggested that he was not ready to admit the defeat in his attempts to become the chief of the Gunners in attack.

He said: “I keep working and everyone at the club can tell how I work every day, not only me, but everyone. I don't give up and it's not easy to play for a big club like Arsenal. Now I can score and I am very happy – I want to keep scoring to help the team.”

As it looks now, it seems unlikely that a summer exit will be on the cards for Jesus. He is expected to be sidelined for some time while continuing his recovery of his knee injury. Jesus remains under contract in North Londs until the summer of 2027.

Arsenal will get their new season going next weekend while they travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.
