Andy Gray has challenged Arsenal to give an offer of £ 100 million for Ollie Watkins when he criticized the timing of their approach.
The Gunners are looking for a frontman with the time that rises in the transfer star of January. On Wednesday they made a step to land Watkins, who continued to impress in a villa outfit that is in the Champions League Knockouts.
Watkins has an impressive record against Arsenal, scored on his last two visits to the Emirates and the last term 27 times in all competitions. Mikel Arteta has identified him as a potential arrival, but time is not on his side if he wants to get a deal.
Villa has also received an offer for Jhon Duran, who closes a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia, and they will hate to lose both fronts. Gray claims that the Noord -Londers have to set enormous money if they have the hope of convincing Villa to sell.
He said about Bein Sports: “I think the timing is bad. Will it do in the coming days?
“Arsenal is his boy's club, so it's always your dream to play for them, especially if they are as good as they are. I think Aston Villa now, especially with the uncertainty around Duran.
Then he challenged when he said, “Arsenal gets into a panic with a few days to go, throw £ 100 million on the table and see if that seduces them.”
That reimbursement would come close to matching the club record costs that they spent 18 months ago to land declan rice. Arsenal finally wants to get the Premier League title and Watkins would help their business. Unai Emery has announced that, although they want to keep their best players, they must remain open with regard to offers.
The Villa Baas said: “I don't want [to sell]. It is good news to have offers from other clubs. We want to keep our sporting objective by the players we have in the team. Every player can be on the market if all goes well for the player and the club. To get this deal, we will demand. Watkins is our striker. “
He also claimed: “The club works and we have to be intelligent in the market. Our goal here is to maintain our structure because we want to keep the level high, and maybe we should sell some players.”
