Arsenal told to think outside the box to secure Leroy Sane transfer this summer

Leroy Sane could leave Bayern Munich when his contract ends in the summer and Arsenal was encouraged to take a step for the wing player, who previously worked with Mikel Arteta in Manchester City

Arsenal has been encouraged to try to sign Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane this summer by offering him a “performance-based contract”. At the end of the season, Sane is without a contract and Arsenal belong to the clubs that are linked to a movement for the winger.

Sane fell in Bayern this season, so that only 14 Bundesliga starts, so far after the Big-money-summer signature by Michael Olise from Crystal Palace. And former Bayern star Dietmar Hamann believes that Sane could be a “brilliant player” for Arsenal if he has an incentive to perform more consistently.

“The consistency of Leroy Sane has been a problem with Bayern Munich,” Hamann told Pokerscout. “That is why he is probably not offered a new contract.

“However, if you give him a performance -based contract, you would have a brilliant player in your hands. That is what I would do. I heard that Arsenal is interested and it would not surprise me if that is the case.

“I think he is a good child. I think some people read too much in body language, if you look at Lionel Messi's body

“So I don't care too much about that, I think he is a good child. The fact is that he has not been consistent enough, but that does not mean that he will not be for Arsenal next season.”

Sane has a wealth of Premier League experience, which won two league titles, three competition cups and a FA cup during his time in Manchester City. He also worked with Arsenal -Baas Mikel Arteta during his time at Etihad as an assistant of Guardiola.

A number of Bayern players arrived this season with decayed contracts and Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich and Manuel Neuer have all signed extensions. It has also been announced that Thomas Muller will leave the club in the summer after Bayern decided to offer him a new deal.

When asked for an update on Sane's future, said Bayern's sports director Max Eberl: “There is still no decision about Leroy. With his current performances he provides arguments for a new contract.

“We have to discuss: which contracts do we expand and how does it fit in the general constellation? Leroy has, just like everyone else, a chance to get a new contract.”

Arteta has already admitted that the club is ready for a “big summer” in the transfer market after Andrea Berta was confirmed as their new sports director. “I think Andrea is a big addition to the club, a big addition to the team, a team that has already been formed with many great people,” said Arteta.

“Every summer is high because it is a chance and especially because of the number of players we now have in the team, that is necessary.

“But it is a big summer for many things, because we first have to maintain the good foundations that we have and then how clear how we can improve and evolve the team.”
