Arsenal would increase their interest in Viktor Gyokees, but a former Gunners think that Mikel Arteta and Co have to focus another striker instead
Arsenal is encouraged to direct Victor Osimhen instead of Viktor Gyokeres by their former midfielder, Emmanuel Petit, who believes that the Nigeria striker has 'more pedigree' than the sought after sporting Lisbon star.
The Gunners are expected to be big this summer in a new striker if they fail to a third consecutive season in the race for the Premier League title. And with speculation that is already starting to swirl over the transfer plans of the club, a number of big names are linked to a switch to the Emirates.
Links to Alexander Isak from Newcastle have gathered pace in recent weeks, but the interest in Gyokeres – who was initially promoted last summer – has been performed, according to athletics.
The Sweden International, 26, has looted goals into a phenomenal rate since he was reached a free transfer from Coventry City in the summer of 2023 and is known as admired by the new sports director of Arsenal, Andrea Berta.
Petit believes that Isak would be the perfect signature for Arsenal. But with the Swede apparently out of reach, Petit thinks Osimhen, who will probably be available for transfer this summer, would be a better signature for his old club.
The Frenchman said to Pokerverma: “If I chose between Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen, I would go for Osimhen. Osimhen has more pedigree than Gyokeres – he would be the better choice for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal.
“But if I had to choose a striker that Arsenal should break the bank for this summer, then I have to place Alexander Isak for both Osimhen and Gyokeres. Isak already knows the Premier League, there is no adjustment period. He is outside the plank, ready to deliver.

“He has shown so much quality. He is a top striker in the Premier League. He can score against any team, and I think he can add quality to Arsenal in advance, something we need.”
Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig is the other striker that Arsenal followed in the run -up to a crucial summer transfer window for Mikel Arteta, who will work with Berta for the first time.
The Italian arrives in London behind the back of an impressive 12 -year spell in a similar role with Atletico Madrid, who won La Liga twice during Berta's time in the Spanish capital.
