Arsenal supporters will be hoping their club can find some deals in the January sell-out as their once promising season is now at risk of falling apart.
Mikel Arteta and Co. are clinging to their hopes of lifting a major trophy, with a big FA Cup tie against Manchester United on Sunday. The Gunners lost the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final 2-0 to Newcastle on Tuesday, leaving them with a mountain to climb at St James' Park next month.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are already six points behind Liverpool in the Premier League title race, despite having played one game. The Gunners' attacking problems have been discussed more than ever in recent weeks and that is where fans will be hoping their squad can be strengthened before the deadline.
Here's an overview of the latest transfer news from the then Emirates.
Isaac's hopes are gone
Alexander Isak is out of Arsenal's price range and the Gunners are now forced to focus on other targets. Isak, 25, is enjoying a period of red-hot form and opened the scoring for Newcastle in their midweek win at the Emirates.
The Swedish forward has scored 10 goals in his last nine games and if anyone were to call for his services, the Mail reports that Newcastle would demand a British record transfer worth more than the £115 million Chelsea paid Brighton for Moises Caicedo in 2023 to contract. As things stand now, I simply cannot afford to pay that fee.
Jorginho is considering Brazil's return
Arsenal midfielder Jorginho is considering leaving the club this month before his contract expires in the summer. The 33-year-old's agent has offered him to Brazilian giants Palmeiras, ESPN reports.
Palmeiras, along with rivals Flamengo, are one of only two teams that Jorginho would reportedly consider returning to his homeland to play for. The former Chelsea midfielder was born in Brazil but has represented Italy at international level after moving there at the age of 15.
Gunners receive windfall
Ex-Arsenal striker Mika Biereth will earn the Gunners a healthy windfall if he completes his €13million move to Monaco. Biereth, who was born in London and plays at youth level for Denmark, has completed a medical in the principality ahead of his move from Sturm Graz.
Arsenal will receive a percentage of the fee received by the Austrian side as they negotiated a sell-on clause when Biereth left the Emirates. The 21-year-old was signed from Fulham in 2021 but never made a senior appearance for the Gunners and left last summer.
