Arsenal will start their Premier League campaign against Manchester United in Old Trafford on Sunday, but are still working on deals to strengthen Mikel Arteta's team
Arsenal is about to start their Premier League campaign, with only two days until they are confronted in Old Trafford in Old Trafford on Sunday and their team is now reasonably arranged.
The Gunners have been working on the summer transfer window and sign Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Crithian Mosquera and Viktor Gyokeres to strengthen the Mikel Arteta team.
It is hoped that the reinforcements can help for the first time since 2004 to change Arsenal from an eternal second to Premier League champions. Nevertheless, there are still a few weeks left until the window closes on 1 September for business and Arsenal is not yet ready.
The attention is now aimed at loading a few unwanted players, hoping that those funds can then be invested in more arrivals. Here the football mirrors the possibilities.
Deadline passes
Arsenal is interested this summer in signing Crystal Palace star Ebereechi Eze. And they know that Eze, that time spent in the Academy of Arsenal as a young person, is interested in the north of the river.
However, things have become quiet and the Gunners have now missed the chance to activate Eze's £ 68 million release clause. It is understanding that the clause is going today and Tottenham is in pole position to sign the English star.
Spurs prepares an offer for the £ 55 million reimbursement that they have paid West Ham for Mohammed Kudus, according to Talksport, and Arsenal is not expected to challenge them. They have cooled their interest, with the breakthroughs of Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman who offer backup for Martin Odegaard in the attacks of midfield.
Five sales in the making
Sports director Andrea Berta has been busy since he arrived from Atletico Madrid. But he still has a lot of work to do – and most of them now concern the sale of players, instead of signing sessions.
The Gunners have only generated £ 8.57 million by the sale of players after scouring left back Nuno Tavares to Lazio and Marquinhos to Cruzeiro. In that respect, they are lagging behind Chelsea and Liverpool and the need grows as the clock ticks until the end of the month.
The side of Arteta must find buyers for people like Leandro Trossard, Fabio Vieira, Reiss Nelson, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Karl Hein. Vieira and Nelson are now at the front of the row, with Stuttgart interested in the first and Fulham the last.
Norgaard Transfer surprise
Arsenal paid £ 12 million at the beginning of July to sign Norgaard from Brentford from Brentford, with his arrival that caused some surprise. Norgaard had spent for six years with the bees and getting up to take the captain, but for some it didn't seem to be the caliber of Arsenal.
It seems that the deal also surprised something in Brentford, with his teammate at club and international level Mikkel Damgaard in which the reaction was explained.
“Yes, you could say it was a bit surprising,” said Damsgaard Varyy. “He really deserved how he played last season. I don't know if it is an underestimated signing, but I really think it's really a good signing for Arsenal. He is a player who just has a lot of quality and works very hard.”
