Arsenal transfer news: Gunners suffer Dusan Vlahovic blow amid £67m Benjamin Sesko dilemma

The clock is ticking for Arsenal, who now have less than two weeks to hand out their checkbook.

Mikel Arteta is yet to welcome any new signings in the January transfer window, which effectively remains open until 11pm on Monday, February 3. The Gunners' most worrying area is in attack, with Bukayo Saka ruled out until March with a torn hamstring, while Gabriel Jesus' crushing cruciate ligament injury is expected to sideline him for most of 2025.

Saturday's disastrous 2-2 draw has seriously dented their chances of winning the Premier League title. Arsenal are now six points behind leaders Liverpool, who can boast a win in a row. The games continue to follow quickly as well, as the Gunners see Dinamo Zagreb play each other in the Champions League on Wednesday and a win would almost guarantee them a place in the knockouts.

Here's a round-up of the latest transfer news from the Emirates.

Chelsea targets Vlahovic

Chelsea are considering a move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who Arsenal have been linked with. The 24-year-old Vlahovic has become available after talks to extend his contract collapsed, with his current contract with Juve set to expire in 2026.

The Serbian has had two and a half years in Turin and has scored twelve goals this season, making him the top scorer. But Vlahovic is also their biggest earner and Juventus are said to be open to selling him, the Times reports, while Chelsea are already in talks with the Italian giants over defender Renato Veiga.

Arsenal discover Sesko's price tag

Arsenal have learned RB Leipzig's asking price for Benjamin Sesko – and it is little more than the release clause they were reportedly willing to pay last summer. The 21-year-old striker was a top target for the Gunners before signing a new contract with Leipzig, who have an agreement to sell him if they receive €80 million.

That, according to Sky Germany, leaves Arsenal in a dilemma. The Gunners were interested in paying £55m for the services of Slovenian international Sesko a few months ago, although they have spent heavily since and have already agreed to pay €60m (£51m) for midfielder Martin Zubimendi in the summer.

The Mbeumo chase becomes even more difficult

Nottingham Forest are chasing Brentford striker Yoane Wissa, making a potential deal for teammate Bryan Mbeumo even more difficult for Arsenal and Manchester United. The Premier League duo are interested in 25-year-old Mbeumo, who is having a fantastic season with the Bees.

But so does 28-year-old Wissa, for whom Forest have made a £22m bid. The Athletic reports that it is on the verge of being rejected, although high-flying Forest remain interested in signing him. Should Brentford be tempted to sell Wissa, now the club's all-time top scorer in the Premier League, it is difficult to imagine they will part ways with fellow striker Mbeumo, who the Bees already desperately want retained until at least this summer.
