Arsenal will be looking forward to the January transfer window after their frustrating 0-0 draw at home to Everton on Saturday, which saw them fall short in a number of areas.
That stalemate only showed how much the Gunners need a reliable striker who can provide a steady supply of goals to boost their title hopes after failing to land a number 9 in the summer .
Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz currently share the scoring load with five goals each in all competitions, but neither are traditional strikers and it is clear the team needs more firepower.
With just two weeks until the January window opens, Mirror Football takes a look at the latest Arsenal transfer news.
Arsenal are on the verge of replacing Vlahovic
If Arsenal are looking to bring a striker to the Emirates in January, Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic may not be a bad option.
There was a time when Vlahovic was one of the most feared strikers in football and the Serbian has returned to excellent form in recent years since his move to Juventus in 2021.
Now the Gunners are ready to make a big move for Vlahovic in January and test Juventus' resolve, according to a report from CaughtOffside.
The report claims that Mikel Arteta sees Vlahovic, who was linked with Arsenal before joining Juventus, as the perfect striker for his system to help the team complete their chances.
This season, Vlahovic has scored eleven goals in all competitions from nineteen games, seven of which came in Serie A. Last season he had one of his best campaigns in years, scoring eighteen times.
Arteta comments on the transfer activities
The Spaniard gave hope to Arsenal fans hoping some deals could be done in January as he spoke out about potential deals ahead of the Everton match.
He admitted he didn't expect January to be an incredibly busy time, but opened the door to the possibility of signings while teasing “some surprises.”
“I never expect January to be super busy, but we have to see where we are,” the head coach said.
“There may be surprises. We are prepared for that. Also some opportunities. We have to see. Hopefully the availability of the team will be better in a few weeks. We have to wait and see.”
Arsenal are interested in Barcelona's Raphinha
Barcelona striker Raphinha is having an excellent season in LaLiga this season and it appears that his performances have not gone unnoticed.
The 28-year-old has scored 17 goals in all competitions and now Arsenal are keen to make a move for him in January after registering their interest in the Brazilian through Football Espana, according to TBR Football.
The report notes Barcelona's notable financial problems, with Raphinha an obvious candidate who could help reduce their wage bill after previous speculation that he could leave.
It says they were previously open to selling him but now consider him “untouchable” due to his incredible form. So Arsenal may have work to do if they want to take action.
