Arsenal left their pre -season tour through Southeast -Asia without Viktor Gyokeres -and now Manchester United is trying to muscle their deal for the sporty striker
Arsenal focuses on two more deals after completing four transfers in the summer window so far.
The Gunners completed the signing of Noni Madueke in a transfer of £ 52 million from Chelsea on Friday when Mikel Arteta got his way on the transfer market. The arrival of Madueke followed that of Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Christian Norgaard and brought their expenses to around £ 134 million for the summer.
Ending in the Premier League three times successively, that Arsenal knows that they need a considerable reinforcement this summer. And that means that sports director Andrea Berta remains an extremely busy man.
His focus is currently on obtaining the transfer of Viktor Gyokeres over the line, while the announcement of Crithian Mosquera is coming. Mosquera is in the bag, with Arsenal awaiting confirmation from La Liga, but Gyokees is a different story. Here are the latest stories about the Gunners.
Man Utd offers on gyokees
Arsenal and Sporting Lisbon were in principle verbally agreed for Gyokees last weekend, but so far they have not delivered a full agreement. And that can prove to be expensive if reports from Portugal are true.
SIC says that the Arsenal deal is 'increasingly risk'. They say that the fixed offer set at € 63.5 million (£ 55 million), which rises to € 70 million (£ 60 million) is not acceptable for Sporting, who have now received another bidder.
United has thrown a cat among the pigeons by offering € 70-80 million (£ 60-69 million). But with sporty President Federico Varandas who pursues the best deal, it can tell.
Legal letter issued
Things have become more and more bitter between Gyokees and Sporting. The Swedish striker is on strike and refuses to report for training for the season and is convinced that he had a men's agreement with the club for a transfer this summer.
Sporting started legal proceedings against their own player during his continuous no-show on the training field. And now Gyokees has responded with a legal letter in which he doubles his promise to never play for the club again and fires back to Varandas about his refusal to make up for this apparent agreement.
Eze alternatively identified
Arsenal could turn to RB Leipzig -star Xavi Simons as a cheaper alternative to Ebererchi Eze, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Gunners are one of the parties interested in signing Crystal Palace star, but he is appreciated at £ 68 million on the side of South London.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said that Arsenal and Chelsea both contacted Leipzig in June to discuss Simons, who previously played with Madueke in PSV Eindhoven.
There has been no further contact and Romano believes that Arsenal will concentrate on the sale of players such as Reiss Nelson before he strives for a deal for Eze or Simons.
