Arsenal transfer news: Marmoush comments on move as Gunners make first contact

Janaury has arrived and with it comes the opportunity for Arsenal to delve into the transfer window.

The Gunners avoided doing business in the first month of the year in 2024, but have previously made big signings such as Leandro Trossard and Jorginho. With Bukayo Saka ruled out due to injury, the temptation to be active may be greater than usual.

Mikel Arteta's side continue to be regularly linked with a goalscorer as they determine the future of Marquinhos. However, the club's priority is likely to put itself in the best position to chase Liverpool in the Premier League.

Mirror Football takes a look at the latest transfer news and rumors surrounding the Emirates.

Purpose speaks for itself

Omar Marmoush, who has been linked with moves to Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City, has revealed he is not considering a move at the moment. The Eintracht Frankfurt star has had an impressive season so far, with the Egypt international scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists in 15 Bundesliga games.

“What I can promise the fans is that I will give everything for Eintracht in every match,” Marmoush told TZ. “I'm not thinking about a transfer.

“I live in the here and now and enjoy my time in Frankfurt.”

January agreement targeted

Celtic hope to reach an agreement with Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney. The Scotland international joined the Gunners from the Bhoys in 2019.

Tierney has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates and struggled with injuries to enter the final year of his contract. Now the full-back can hold talks with clubs across Europe, with Celtic said to be interested in his return on a free transfer.

Reports claim that parties are in the process of agreeing a pre-contract. However, Tierney may have to take a pay cut.

Arsenal makes first contact

According to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal were the first Premier League club to get in touch about Dani Olmo's precarious situation. North London's interest has led to intrigue at Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United, with the player's registration proving problematic.

Due to financial problems, Barcelona only registered the Spaniard until December 31 and as it stands, the Catalan giants still have work to do to stick to La Liga rules and play Olmo. The midfielder is said to have a clause allowing him to leave for free if Barcelona are unable to sign him.

Olmo's priority at the moment is to stay at Camp Nou. His agent Andy Bara insists he will not receive any offers from rival clubs.
