Arsenal's title challenge is faltering, with the January transfer window providing the ideal opportunity for Mikel Arteta to boost his side.
Saturday's dull draw against Everton highlighted several problem areas in Arteta's squad that will need to be addressed if Liverpool are to be pursued. At the top of the list would be a striker, meaning the Gunners would struggle to score.
A few years ago, Arsenal were seen as one of Dusan Vlahovic's frontrunners before he joined Juventus. Now their interest has been reignited as Arteta looks for a new number 9.
Elsewhere, it appears Raheem Sterling will remain at the Emirates Stadium despite his lack of game time since arriving from Chelsea. Here, Mirror Football collects all the latest Arsenal transfer news.
Sterling would stay
Raheem Sterling has no plans to cut short his stay at Arsenal in search of more regular football in the January window. The winger has struggled to get game time for the Gunners, making just 10 appearances in all competitions.
He was mainly forced into a substitute role, with his last start coming in October. Despite this, the Evening Standard reports that he is determined to force his way into the team in the second half of the season.
Sterling is believed to be in 'constant dialogue' with Arteta and has built a good rapport with his teammates. It is said that there is a feeling that Sterling still has plenty of time to make an impact and that is why he will stay in January.
Kiwior is looking for an exit
Jakub Kiwior is looking to leave Arsenal after being dropped by Arteta. The Pole had taken Gabriel's place during his absence due to injury, but the Brazilian's return to fitness has seen the defender return to the bench.
According to Il Mattino, Kiwior has now instructed his agents to find him a new club in January. His situation is being monitored by both Napoli and Juventus, with a return to Italy appearing likely.
His agents are expected to travel to Italy for talks with Napoli over a possible move. Napoli boss Antonio Conte has already given his approval for the deal, while Kiwior are keen to make the move.
The pursuit of Vlahovic revives
Arsenal have revived interest in Dusan Vlahovic as they look for a new striker. The Gunners pursued the 24-year-old before he joined Juventus, although Spazioj.it reports his future in Turin is 'increasingly in jeopardy'.
Vlahovic clashed with fans after a recent match against Venezia and it appears a contract extension is unlikely. Arsenal are now knocking on Vlahovic's door 'again' and are seen as an 'aggressive contender'.
The Gunners are expected to intensify their interest in January, with Arteta reportedly wanting an all-round striker who can score a host of goals. Vlahovic would fit into this picture and the Gunners are considering the possibility of offering Gabriel Jesus in return.
