RB Leipzig -striker Benjamin Sesko is strongly connected to a move to the Premier League in the summer transfer window and Arsenal are among his potential lovers
Arsenal could be forced to pay even more for transfer goal Benjamin Sesko after RB Leipzig had increased his release clause. Sesko, 21, scored a brilliant goal outside of the foot during the dramatic 3-3 draw with Bayern Munich to show why he is one of the most spoken players on his way to the summer transfer window.
The Slovenian was strongly connected to a move to Arsenal last summer, but a movement did not come true. Mikel Arteta and Club Scouts have monitored his progress, with Sesko scored 21 goals this season in 45 performances.
But his goals could work against him. That is because the much-needed striker has a performance-related release clause within his Leipzig contract.
Sky Germany reports that Sesko is now appreciated at more than £ 68 million, an increase compared to the £ 60 million that teams are thinking about when he remained placed again in the January transfer star. The 21-year-old could still leave Leipzig without his release clause being activated.
In that scenario, Leipzig would probably demand a higher total compensation and a different payment structure than Arsenal. Sesko stays on the shortlist of the five man of the Gunners for a new striker with less than a month until the first part of the summer transfer window is opened.
Newcastle Isak would probably be too expensive, while Gyokeres has not proven himself in one of Europe's top five competitions.
Cunha is expected to sign for Manchester United and Liverpool are linked to Ekitike. Arteta could leave that with one clear option in Sesko.
Elvis Basanovic, the former Red Bull Salzburg Wonderkid's Agent, was questioned in January about Arsenal's interest. “I think you should ask Mr. Arteta about that,” Basanovic joked and spoke with Arena Sport.
Does Arsenal have to pay £ 68 million to sign Benjamin Sesko? Say in the commentary part.
“But I think Sesko could fit at many clubs because he has different football skills. He can only play in attack, with two strikers, a little further back, he has height, speed and technical speed.
“Benjamin really seems, I think this is a phase of development. I think we have already shown in the past that we are sticking to the development path, that we are not looking at the current form.”
The agent continued to say: “I don't think Leipzig would be satisfied with a fee at the moment, Leipzig does not want to sell Benjamin Sesko because they really appreciate him enormously.”
