Arsenal warn fans in Paris ‘be vigilant’ to avoid notorious PSG hooligan attacks

Arsenal has handed out 2,000 scarves to supporters traveling to Paris for their semi-final of the Champions League, despite warning fans to be 'vigilant' in the French capital in the midst of notorious PSG hooligans.

The Gunners made the gesture for supporters while picking up their cards at a special collection point in Paris.

Supporters received a free red and white scarf, with an Arsenal Club -Badge, because they received their matchday tickets personally.

Various supporters have warned their colleague fans against wearing the scarves in the city, but in the midst of concern that they can be attacked by rival fans.

“Arsenal: Be careful in Paris, don't wear colors,” wrote a fan. “Also Arsenal: here is a free red and white scarf with our badge on it when you record your ticket.”

“Maybe I miss something or am I just on my old age,” said another fan. 'Arsenal had encouraged their fans not to wear club colors in Paris for the game.

Another wrote: 'You place a target on the back of fans and hand out scarves. Paris can be a dangerous place if you are not a PSG fan on CL Semi-Final Night. '

As part of the travel advice from Arsenal for fans traveling to the game, the club warned supporters that they are 'vigilant' and take 'sensible precautions'.

The club also advised strong fans to avoid the Authorie -Buitenwijk of Paris.

From a large number of supporters from home it is known that they will travel through the area to the Parc des prices.

“Supporters are highly advised to avoid the Authori -Buitenwijk of Paris and must note of this when they travel to the Parc des Princes on MatchDay,” Arsenal fans advised.

'Street crime, including pickpocket, can take place in Paris. Proponents are advised to be vigilant, to take sensible precautions and ensure that they have a valid travel insurance policy.

“Supporters are highly advised not to use rule 10 on the metro system, which would lead to supporters leaving the metro system in the author.”

The warnings for supporters come after collecting PSG supporters and English fans around European competitions in the French capital.

Last month, images showed that PSG fans clashed with Aston Villa supporters prior to their quarter-final draw.

Videos showed a chaotic scene outside of a bar, where crutches were used as weapons and were launched in all directions, while bumps were also thrown.

Newcastle United supporters were also attacked by PSG Ultras in November 2023, with images that show that fans tried to block doors while torches and seats were thrown.

The Paris prefecture has confirmed that 2,000 police will have service as part of their safety schemes around the semi -final on Wednesday.

“The Paris police prefecture implements a security plan that is tailored to the event and the risk assessment, to prevent malfunctions of public order and to combat crime,” said a police statement.

'More than 2,000 police officers will be deployed around the Parc des Princes, as well as on usual assembly places in Paris and the inner cities, as well as on train stations, stations and lines that probably house spectators and supporters.

'Only ticket holders get access to the security peripheral meter that will be set around the stadium.

'We therefore strongly insist on fans without tickets not to try to reach the park.

“No meetings near the Parc des Princes are therefore permitted for fans without tickets, contrary to what can be reported on social media.”

Arsenal will try to cancel a 1-0 first leg deficit in their semi-final of the Champions League against the French champions.
