Paul Merson claims that Arsenal “would win the competition with 10 points” if she would protect the signing of Alexander Isak this summer. The Frontman of Newcastle is one of the most sought after players in Europe after a sensational season.
The Swede has enjoyed an excellent campaign and will place the best songs of the career for the goal that Newcastle helped to claim a first trophy in more than 70 years. Isak has continued to excel since he had moved to the Premier League from Real Sociedad in 2022.
Before moving to England, he was connected to Arsenal and Isak scored several times against the North Londers, who need a productive frontman. They have not succeeded in landing one in recent transfer penters, but is expected to push hard for an elite ahead this summer.
Mikel Arteta has again missed the Premier League title, but Merson believes that signing Isak would turn out to be the defining his former club to win the top flight at a canter if they had the Swede led their line.
He said to Sportskeeda: “Alexander Isak is expected to accept a few clubs this summer, but I have the feeling that he could play the waiting game before he would determine his future. Newcastle could be in the Champions League next season and they have already shown that they can win silverwork.
“Let's not forget it – they are now a big club and if they are eligible for the Champions League, they will be an attractive project for every player. I think Isak will certainly follow a part of the Champions League at the Champions League and that will play a key role. Arsenal seems the best possible movement for him.
However, Isak has not shown not to leave St James' park and Newcastle is desperate to keep their frontman, which will be much easier if they are in the Champions League. If Arsenal wanted to land the 25-year-old, they would have to set a British record costs.
Liverpool has since been credited with an interest in Isak, because they want to build on their titles success by adding more firepower. The Gunners have also been associated with people like Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokees, who have been productive in their respective clubs.
Before Arsenal did not say a striker in January, Arteta said: “We have to do what is good for the club. It is an option, but it is not only on Arsenal – or Mikel – or our will. It depends on the market, and many other factors.”
