Arsenal's priority heading into the January transfer window is a new striker, with Mikel Arteta looking for more firepower.
The Gunners are looking to make their third Premier League fortune after two near misses, but are lagging slightly behind Liverpool and the lack of a prolific goalscorer is seen as one of the chinks in their armour. Bukayo Saka has just been injured and is further testing their resources.
Arteta is receiving financial support and is keeping an eye on a host of players – some playing domestically and others abroad – as he looks to further improve his front line, where Kai Havertz is currently Arsenal's top scorer, with seven goals.
Three current Premier League stars are on his radar, including Newcastle's Alexander Isak, who is highly rated at the Emirates. The Swede has long been monitored by Arsenal, but the Magpies are unwilling to let their man go in January, especially in his current form. It's understood they currently value Isak at over £150m, but Arsenal are eyeing a possible change of plans in the summer depending on whether Newcastle make it to the Champions League or not and what effect that has on their finances .
Wool window Matheus Cunha, who has often been their bright spot this season, and Bryan Mbeumo at Brentford are two more men on their shortlist. Mbeumo remains a crucial figure for the Bees and they will be reluctant to lose him mid-season.
Looking abroad, the Daily Mail claims Arsenal could bring Leroy Sane back to English shores. The Bayern Munich man excelled at Manchester City and won several league titles before moving to Bayern Munich. However, regular minutes were difficult to come by. He has worked with Mikel Arteta before, but his high salaries could be a problem, especially given his preference to play in Saka's right-hand position.
One man who would provide goals is Benjamin Sesko, but it is much more likely that RB Leipzig will do business in the summer. They will demand top dollar for the young striker, who was previously on Manchester United's radar.
Nico Williams was one of the standout players at Euro 2024, scoring in the final against England, and he has a number of admirers. Athletic Bilbao managed to retain his services this summer, but he is said to have a £50m release clause. Arsenal are among his admirers.
Real Madrid youngster Arda Guler has admirers in north London, but despite playing only sporadically, the Spanish giants see the Turkish teenager as a big part of their future plans. Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz, if and when he leaves the German club, would have a queue of clubs wanting him, including Arsenal.
