Offers Arsenal's Fab Front Four Bode Well for PSG?
Bukayo Saka started, Thomas Partey sat on the couch. Mikel Arteta insisted that his team selection had nothing to do with the semi-final of the Champions League with PSG, but it is definitely a template for such a huge game for the Gunners.
The suspension of Pedey for the first stage against the French champions was the only negative note in the conquest of Real Madrid-EN hinted this line-up how Arsenal can approach that huge four meeting on April 29.
When Arsenal defeated PSG 2-0 in October, they played a 4-4-2 formation with Leandro Trossard that Kai Havertz worked in front. Trossard played the same role in this game against Ipswich – with Mikel Merino and Martin Odegaard who rotated in the other forward role – and the Belgian star with two goals.
But it was not only Trossard, Arsenal's whole front four stutte their things. Merino's slick film for the goal of Gabriel Martinelli was his ninth deliberate in 13 games since he was manifested in a striker.
The system also matched Saka and Odegaard. Both players each created five chances – most of everyone on the field.
“A part of the piece, the way we were connected, the bullet rate, positioning and understanding was exceptional,” said Mikel Arteta full -time.
Arsenal's Front Four in this 4-4-2 setup was too much for Ipswich. The two questions are: will it be used to start PSG – and can it be a winning formula again? Sam Blitz
Pereira one of the managers of the season
It is one of the best management performance of the season. When Vitor Pereira took over the team from Wolves in mid -December, the team was 19th in the table and five points of safety. Fast forward to Easter Sunday and their Premier League status is secured.
The brilliant free kick of Pablo Sarabia at Man Utd made it five victories on the spider and was a suitable way to complete the mission. While Leicester and Ipswich have been set to relegation together with Southampton, Wolves have piled up the points.
Pereira has added the organization and structure, re -configured the positions of players and unlocked the attacking potential of the team. He also treated problems around the team, so players were on the field scraping or were looking for the exit in January.
It always felt like wolves were better than what they showed in the first half of the season. Pereira proved it. Now, almost immediately, attention will focus on how he and the club can ensure that another major rescue act is not necessary next season. Peter Smith
Hojlund's waste costs man utd … again
Another day, another missed opportunity – or three – for Rasmus Hojlund.
The miserable run of the striker and apparently shattered trust, continued against Wolves on Sunday. Man Utd could not score for a ninth Premier League match of 22 under Ruben Amorim – Only Leicester has drawn more spaces at that time.
“We had many chances to score, but we didn't do that – and we lost the game,” Amorim at Sky Sports told Sky Sports after the game. “If you don't score, you don't have a chance to win games.”
He refused to blame all of Hojlund's feet, but the 22-year-old plays the greatest role as the No. 9 to which he gave his support, instead of other quality options.
The Danish striker started this season 31 of the MAN UTD matches as their most important striker, and has six goals to show it – and only one this calendar year.
The statistics will emphasize one of his normal problems, a lack of involvement. Fourteen touches, one every five minutes. Four of those in the Wolves -Box – only one more than Mason Mount, who only came up for the last half hour. A solitary shot, a near-post film from a corner routine moments after the break that was well blocked by Toti Gomes.
But what they will not mention are the chances he should have had. Later in half he was caught on his heels and too late to meet an Alejandro Garnacho ball through the six-year box and missed it on the slide with a matter of centimeters.
Before the break he was nowhere to be seen to reach a Patrick Dorgu cross that should be the dream of a striker. To make it even worse, he did not succeed in an almost identical opportunity – from the same provider – a little later. For an attacker with a price tag of £ 64 million, he shows few signs of possessing the instinct of a striker nearly two seasons in his old Trafford career.
Although he cannot be accused of the clinical finish of Wolves and the winner scored their only shot on goal, it should only be to rub salt in the wound and raise further questions about how involved he will be next season.
Because this was far from the worst performance of Man Utd under Amorim. They were relatively tight at the back and got some decent balls in the box. But without anyone finishing them, it makes little difference. Ron Walker
Ipswich is better than a wrapping end
Ipswich is the only team that came from the championship last season and leaves with some credit. They have now been sent to relegation for weeks, but they have given it a considerable attempt. Their problems are much less obvious than those by Southampton and Leicester – there is no shame in it with a scrap.
Almost zero bottle, however, was shown against Arsenal. Kieran McKenna is a realist, he knows what is coming, but still wants his side to show their best side because they have done all the campaign.
“It was way too easy for Arsenal. The promoted teams are so far away, we are sometimes too nice for them,” said Jamie Carragher of Sky Sports after the game. Rarely have Ippswich been spoken in those terms.
A little over a month remains from their Premier League stay and it will be important for McKenna that his players remain competitive. Show fight. The championship is only five games removed. Laura Hunter
Fulham Will Rue dropped points of leading positions
Fulham has a lot to shout this season, so much that they have been good in the mix among teams that have viewed a European finish.
In the ninth they miss the opportunity to move in eighth place above Bournemouth. Their hope is not over yet, but their recent inconsistency hinders any progress that Marco Silva wants to make his side.
They had the order for spells this afternoon, but that didn't help them to spend nothing from Chelsea for the winner of Pedro Neto.
Fulham has now lost 25 points this season to win positions in the Premier League; Only Ipswich Town (27) have lost more. If they don't reach Europe, they are to blame themselves. William Bitibiri
