Arsenal’s Jesus to undergo surgery on ACL injury

Arsenal have confirmed that Gabriel Jesus has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and will undergo surgery.

The Brazilian was stretchered off in the first half of Arsenal's FA Cup third round defeat to Manchester United on Sunday after twice going down for treatment.

Mikel Arteta had confirmed in his press conference on Tuesday that the club was “very concerned” about the extent of the injury, with the club since confirming that he had suffered the injury to his left knee.

Jesus has scored three goals in the Premier League this season, with an expected goals total (xG) of 3.0 in 17 top-flight games, despite starting just six games.

In total, Jesus has scored seven times in all competitions this season, including a hat-trick against Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup.

The striker joins Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri on the sidelines, leaving the Gunners with Kai Havertz as their sole striker.

I wish you all the best in your recovery, Gabby
