Arsenal’s set-piece maestro Nicolas Jover honoured with mural out of the stadium

Arsenal's acclaimed coach Nicolas Jover has been commemorated by club supporters with his own mural outside the Emirates.

The 43-year-old is a key figure in the Gunners squad and since joining three years ago he has seen Arsenal transform into a team that has scored more goals from corners than any other Premier League team.

His efforts have been crucial to the club's title challenge this season. Arsenal have been the most dangerous team since set pieces this season and have their corners to thank for their recent win over Man United and draw against Fulham.

Jover gets most of the credit for Arsenal's aerial dominance and his role as an integral part of Mikel Arteta's coaching team has not gone unnoticed by supporters.

Delighted Arsenal fans have now taken it upon themselves to add Jover to the mural in the Hornsey Road tunnel just outside the Emirates, which is already covered with images of players and Arteta.

Ironically, Jover's image, wearing an Arsenal coach's jacket, is painted in black and white on the corner of the traditional brick wall.

The image of a smiling Jover comes complete with the corner of a pitch etched into it in honor of the set-piece expert's incredible transformation project at the club.

Arsenal have scored 23 goals this season – eight more than any other top team – from corners, with their regular organization causing chaos among rivals' defences.

The threat they pose from corners has become the main talking point around Arsenal in recent weeks. Although happy with the results, Arteta would like to see his team score more goals in open play as well.

In a pre-match speech ahead of Arsenal's 2-0 Champions League win over Monaco on Wednesday, Arteta said: 'We still have the dominance that we have and we need to get the killer instinct. We have more entries in the box than any other team, this is the last part that isn't there.

'I have to help them with that, gain more weight and get more opportunities (in open play).

“We need to have more asymmetry on both sides, we need to find the right balance with the players, we need to be a threat everywhere,” the Arsenal boss added.

Meanwhile, rival supporters were quick to mock the painting dedicated to Jover with a message on

'I'd half understand if you won something and his set piece coaching was the main reason, but a mural after a quarter of a season just because you scored a few set pieces has got to be the most arsenal you've ever had had. Embarrassing.'
